A new position has become available for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team. You will work under the guidance of the Lead Engineers/Engineers and Engineering & Design Manager to provide support on any mechanical technical matters pertaining to the company’s conversion business, including New Product Development (NPD) and Current Model Production.
Main duties of the role are:
· Support the Lead Engineers/Design Engineers in the development of new and existing vehicle conversions
· Day to day adhoc responsibilities as requested by Lead Engineers/Design Engineers
· Prototyping of vehicle conversion samples as per drawings for first off validation
· Prototype builds of new conversion/developments for validation
· Training of vehicle specific new development requirements to production ops where required
· Shell prep/conversion for any test requirements
· Maintenance of in-house test equipment/tooling/workshop ensuring that all calibration certification and documentation is kept up to date, and assisting in sourcing new equipment as needed
To be effective in this role, you will have extensive knowledge of WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) conversion requirements, be IT literate with excellent attention to detail and be proficient in the use of hand/power tools. Experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing/engineering environment would be essential. A mechanical engineering qualification, experience of working with technical regulations and standards – especially automotive and experience as a Mechanical Technician in a similar industry would be desirable.
Hours of work are Monday – Wednesday 7am – 6pm and Thursday 7am – 5.30pm and the salary is £25-30k PA DOE (including bonus).
