Allied Vehicles is the UK market leader in the manufacture and supply of wheelchair accessible transport solutions. Our Engineering department is expanding and as a result, we are recruiting for Design Engineers to join our team. You will work as part of a team in the specification and development of Allied Vehicles’ current range of Minibus, Taxi and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle conversions (WAV’s). This will include design, research, prototyping, creation of BOM’s and the updating of necessary documentation, including project plans.
Key responsibilities are:
· To assist with the research and development of innovative solutions for the companies planned new products to enhance their current product range
· To create and maintain 3D models and 2D CAD for new designs and support the existing product range
· To research new materials and technologies
· To create prototypes of new concepts and verify designs with the Production and Procurement teams
· Work on accessories through to complete new vehicle product design
· Manage projects to meet specification, cost and timeline requirements
· Provide technical support for products and production
· Design for manufacturing for both the UK and internationally
· Keep abreast of all vehicle manufacturers proposed new designs for the future
To be effective in this role, you will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a proven track record of undertaking design through to production. You will be proficient in the use of 3D CAD packages, of 3D Modelling Capabilities (preferably Solidworks) and have a wide range of experience in designing and implementing new products to meet specification. Knowledge of Injection Moulding, Additive Manufacturing Techniques, and experience of working with technical regulations & standards would be advantageous but is essential.
Hours of work are Monday to Wednesday 7am - 6pm & Thursday 7am - 5.30pm. This position offers a superb opportunity to join a progressive and committed company.
